Crescent City CA - The tsunami waves struck first Crescent City California

CRESCENT CITY - Waves are beginning to emerge shortly along the north coast of California near the Oregon border of a tsunami caused by the earthquake in Japan. The tide began to rise shortly after 7:30 am on the beach in Crescent City, where the tsunami was expected to hit hardest in California. Officials predicted that the waves can reach up to 7 feet.

Local officials have been the activation of the tsunami warning sirens along the Del Norte and Humboldt County coast during the morning and urged residents in low lying areas to seek higher ground.Residents a port city in northern California once hit by a deadly tsunami prepared for another as the waves generated by the massive earthquake in Japan move closer to the western U.S. coast.Fishermen in Crescent City were firing their crab boats leaving the port to withstand a surge expected, while residents living in a trailer park near head to higher ground.
